Get Licensed

“Do Right” and Become Officially Licensed

If you are interested in creating products bearing the Georgia Southern University trademarks and logos, you will need to obtain a license. Georgia Southern University has partnered with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) to help with this process. From the initial application to royalty management and beyond, CLC is there to provide assistance, information, and support to each licensed manufacturer.

Georgia Southern offers three licenses: retail, internal, and crafter.

Retail License:

Allows a company to produce products bearing Georgia Southern trademarks for sale at retail in approved retail channels and direct to consumer, as well as university departments and related entities. All retail licensees are required to remit royalty reports and payments on a quarterly basis to CLC, who collects these payments on behalf of the University. Georgia Southern’s royalty rate is fifteen percent (15%) of the wholesale price of a product.

Internal License:

Allows a company to produce product bearing the Georgia Southern trademarks for university departments and related entities for internal consumption only; cannot provide product at retail or direct to consumer. All internal licensees are required to remit royalty reports and payments on a quarterly basis to CLC, who collects these payments on behalf of the University. Georgia Southern’s internal royalty rate is ten percent (10%) of the wholesale price of a product.

Georgia Southern’s office of Procurement requires internal licensees to be under contract with the university. To learn more about this process, please click here

Crafter License:

Georgia Southern University now offers a limited crafter licensing program to small crafters in order to use GS trademarks and other branding on non-apparel items. The program is limited to crafters and is not designed for businesses with full-time retail storefronts. The crafter licensing program is also administered by CLC through their Community Connect program.

  • No apparel licenses will be granted through Georgia Southern’s crafter licensing program.
  • Crafters are limited to $2,500 in sales (of products bearing Georgia Southern’s marks or other branding) in a calendar year.
  • Crafters will complete an agreement through CLC’s Community Connect licensing program and pay a rights fee of $100.00 per contract term.
  • Crafters must submit each design for approval through the Community Connect’s platform. The office of Trademark Licensing will review and approve all artwork submitted.
  • Crafters may only use Georgia Southern University’s standard logos as shown on the brand elements page (insert link to art sheet).
